Fanney Khan Review: Aishwarya Rai & Rajkummar Rao adds Humour

Fanney Khan is a story of dreams, desires, aspiration of a father for his daughter.

It is a story of Prashant Sharma (Anil Kapoor) who dreams of becoming a playback singer maximum he reaches up is to become a singer of his own chawl where he occasionally performs. His source of energy is his love for music. He is a fan of Mohammad Rafi. He is a firm believer of dreams. Even after failing himself, he wants his daughter whose name is “Lata” to reach the stage of his dreams.

Fanney Khan Review

Lata played by Pihu Sand has other definition of becoming a star. She sings and dances as well but often ends up being shamed for her bulky frame. The story of Fanney Khan revolves around thefather daughter duo and their dreams.

When Prashant fail to realize the dream. He takes a rather different path by kidnapping the star singer Baby Singh played by Aishwarya Rai. The accomplice in his crime is Abhir(Rajkummar Rao). His job is to keep an eye on Baby. The Abhir and baby role marks for a good comedy. Aishwarya Rai has done a good job as a star singer who is quite cool even after being kidnapped. Rajkummar Rao has a wonderful comic timing in this movie.

Fanney Khan Review

Anil Kapoor is convincing as a father running behind the dreams. Divya Dutta who is playing Lata’s mother has done justice as a practical mother.

This movie has few clichés and wrong turns which takes it a bit away from a very good movie. Director Atul Manjrekar has done a fine job except for few loopholes.

Overall it is an average watch.

I am giving it 3 stars out of 5.
