Cinema is the mirror of the society. A good cinema is necessary for a good society.
Many a times we get to know about our own history through cinema.
Same is the case with Indu Sarkar. It is set on the back drop of 1975 emergency.
Although it captures only a minor part of 1975 emergency, but captures it well.
Indu Sarkar is a story of a girl who stammers while speaking. Her only dream is to get marry & become a good wife. With lot of efforts she finds a guy to marry. Her husband Navin Sarkar (played by Tota Roy Chowdhary) is an ambitious man. She ultimately gets what she has dreamt of. Tota Roy has done a good job as her husband.
Life of her dreams is very short lived as she she finds 02 kids stuck homeless because of emergency situation. She tries hard to find their parents. In the way , to find their parents, meaning of her own life changes. She finds out the injustice done in the name of law & order. She decides to fight the injustice & dictatorship prevalent in the country. In order to do something, she joins a group which protests again the wrong doing of government.
Film also features Neil Nitin Mukesh, who has played role of Sanjay Gandhi. He is looking convincing in role of a politician with power. Anupam Kher has played role of head of the activist group.
Madhur Bhandarkar has yet again brought a good film & story for us. Although the pace of the movie is little slow but it does not have much impact. The film is to the point without unnecessary songs & deviations. Kirti Kulhari is brilliant as Indu Sarkar. Her effortless acting is commendable. She has done full justice to the role. It is difficult to pull a film without big starcast. This film proves that good actor & good story can get you a good film.
Indu Sarkar is totally worth watching. I am giving it 3 out of 5 stars.
