Poster Boys – Comedy of Vasectomy!

poster boys

Poster Boys is a comedy of error. It is a hilarious representation of 03 different characters stuck in a situation. Let me introduce the 03 poster boys-

  • Jagaavar Chaudhary (Sunny Deol). – One who is a retired army officer & is a selfie addict.
  • Vinay Sharma (Bobby Deol) – One who is a school master & keeps on forgetting what he wants to speak.
  • Arjun Singh (Shreyas Talpade) – One who is a recovery agent.

Plot

Story starts when all 03 poster boys living there lives face a blow in form of a “Poster”. All of them become famous overnight. They become the brand ambassador of Vasectomy in their village. They face trouble in their personal lives because of this blunder done by district health department. In entire movie they fight to prove themselves right & struggle to get what they want. The struggle has been portrayed nicely.

Good Things

After a long gap all the three stars are seen in a movie. Actors have acted well in their respective characters. The USP of the characters lies in their strange behaviour. Jagaavar Chaudhary is so obsessed with selfies that even when he is beating someone, he asks that person to pout for selfie. Vinay Sharma is a freaky character who teaches in school but cannot recall what he wants to say without peeping into his notebook. Arjun Sharma, the recovery agent has two friends who dance whenever his phone rings. Overall the poster boys are funny on screen.

Shreyas Talpade has donned the Hat of director for the first time & he has done a good job. The backdrop of a village with affluent people & treatment of film looks real.

Not-so good things

Although, the movie is funny but at a few places there was lack of humour in the punches. The jokes were old at many places & at many places were taken from Sunny Deol’s previous movies. The topic of vasectomy has been touched fearlessly but not enough spotlight given to the topic. Looking at the standard of comedy with are getting these days, this movie lags behind.

Verdict

The chemistry of the characters & the comic timing are plus. The direction for a first time director is also a plus. Little work on dialogues & screenplay was required. The acting of the lead stars is also good. There was scope of improvement in writing comedy scenes. Overall it is an average watch. I am giving it 2.5 stars out of 5.
