Review – Jab Harry Met Sejal

jab harry met sejal

When a movie team has three masters of their trades., the expectations tend to reach the sky. Same is the case with this one. To meet the high expectations, high octane performances are required. Few good performances & few glitches makes Jab Harry Met Sejal an average watch. It is a story of a tourist guide who lives in Europe & a tourist named Sejal. The first half of the movie has real good comedy scenes. The timing of Shah rukh & Anushka makes them all the more funny. The backdrop of the movie is almost all the popular countries of Europe.

Imtiaz Ali known for his love for travel & tinch of that can be seen in all his movies. If he would not have been a director, he would have been a tourist guide. An extremely wonderful chemistry & hilarious sequence makes the first half awesome. The Punjabi & Gujrati mix is a hit. Dialogues & expression in first half are pretty cool. Shah rukh will woo you with his effortless Punjabi singer cum guide Avtar. Anushka looks cute as Gujju girl.  Her role & acting is flawless.

But the second half is too damn slow that it snatches the sheen of first half. Drastic drop in the pace makes it boring. A little bit of effort on editing would have done wonders for the movie. Although the chemistry is enchanting but the director & editor fails to bring out the best out of that. A better story & a fifteen minute cut would have resulted in an awesome movie.

Imtiaz Ali has made wonderful movies in his career. He is the one who weaves real life characters in dreamy situations which results in magic. Magic that leaves its imprints on the mind of young audience. But this time he falls short of that magic. He could have made an exceptional film with such talent in hand.

Verdict

Overall movie is an average watch. Movie has few good songs & music is also good. You can watch it for the chemistry of the lead pair & hilariously convincing role of Shah Rukh Khan as a guide who cribs in Punjabi. I am giving this movie 2.5 star out of 5.
