Ever since India’s favorite cricketer, Virat Kohli and cine actress, Anushka Sharma tied the knot on 11 December this year, they surely broke many hearts; including mine. The secret affair was attended by just 50 people and it was no less than a dream fairytale wedding. The power couple was dressed by none other than the ace designer and celebrated couturier, Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Known for excellence in designing wedding ensembles, he made sure to dress the lovebirds ‘Virushka’ for all the ceremonial functions. It made big headlines in Bollywood news and gossips sections and broke the internet when they announced the big news socially on their Instagram accounts. Well, we don’t blame anyone. It was meant to be!
Let’s contemplate each of their wedding looks one by one:
According to Sabyasachi, the Bollywood actress chose a boho look full of bright colors for her mehendi. So keeping her choice in mind, a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange color was created. Hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori! A beautiful sixties pop print was rendered by the artists from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation. And not to forget the silk screen printed hand-woven Indian silk. For accessories, Anushka went for long earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection. A pair of jhumkas which were crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, uncut diamonds, tourmalines and Japanese cultured pearls looked stunning on her. The custom juttis in hand-woven zardosi and brocade completed her look. She opted for straight long hair with middle partition. We loved how her makeup was kept minimal and fresh. Check it out if you haven’t already!
The groom, on the other hand, donned a signature khadi kurta churidaar with classic fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket. The detailing was from the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons. For the ensemble, a custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was chosen.

2. Let’s get on to the Engagement Ceremony look:
For the engagement, the Bollywood actor opted for velvet sari in the label’s ‘Gulkand Burgandy” hue. Creating the embellished drape included hand-embroidery with pearls, zardozi, and marori. The jewelry was again picked up in the houses’ signature. It was a choker with matching ear studs. I personally have fallen for that microdot bindi.
For the engagement, Virat went for a three-piece suit which made him look like a perfect gentleman. They both are on fire. Aren’t they?
3. And now it is time for D-day!:
For the wedding day, Virat chose to dress in a classic hand embroidered ivory silk sherwani coupled with a vintage Benarasi pattern. To complete the look, he wore an old Rose silk safa and accessories by the signature label itself. I am sure women couldn’t have taken their eyes off of him.
Ladies hold your breath; it is the bride’s turn now! Anushka wore Sabyasachi’s blush pink lehenga which totally complemented the whimsical surroundings of Tuscany. Hand-embroidered in silk floss, it took 67 karigars, 32 days to complete the entire ensemble, as informed by Sabyasachi on his Instagram account. To add cherry to the cake, Anushka picked the jadau bridal jewelry, handcrafted in uncut diamonds, pearls, pale pink spinel choker and matha patti by the label.
In conclusion, they both look just magical, timeless and forever and we can’t keep our eyes off! *sigh*
Seems like it’s not just Bollywood actresses that are going crazy over Sabyasachi designs, we are going gaga over his collections too! He truly is a master in designing Indian ensembles with such intricacies and elegance. Currently, we envy you Anushka! Jokes apart we wish the couple a very happy married life ahead.
