Salman Khan convicted in the blackbuck poaching case verdict.

The 20 year old nightmare for Salman Khan of the blackbuck poaching case in Jodhpur finally comes to an end with his conviction. While all the other costars of Hum Saath Saath Hai including Tabu, Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre have been acquitted on account of lack of sufficient proofs it hasn’t been the same for Salman Khan. All you need to know about the Blackbuck Poaching case of 1998.

In the year 1998 while shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hai, the cast of the film were accused of going for a shooting expedition thereby killing 2 Blackbucks in the Kankani village of Jodhpur. The Bishnoi community protested after the two dead blackbucks were found in the jungle and a case was filed against Salman Khan and other crew members.



Salman Khan had been charged for unlawful killing of the endangered species under the section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act the minimum sentence of which is 1 year and which can go upto a maximum of 6 years.

In January 2017, Salman Khan was however acquitted in the case of possession of arms unlawfully under the arms and ammunition act for possession of .22 rifle and a .32 revolver which was used for poaching.

Salman Khan was pronounced as guilty by the Jodhpur district presiding officer Devkumar Khatri today of the killing of 2 Blackbucks in the year 1998 during a hunting expedition while filming for Hum Saath Saath Hai. Besides a fine of Rs. 10000 was also levied on him. However the other costars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu were acquitted for lack of sufficient evidences.



Salman Khan has been sentenced to 5 year of imprisonment.

Actor Salman Khan has been convicted and sentenced to a 5 year imprisonment in the 19 year old Blackbuck poaching case. Salman Khan has been taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail directly from the court. He has applied for bail hearing for which will take place tomorrow.
